Whittier Adult School

Preparing the leaders for tomorrow, "Empowering and Enriching the Community."

Whittier Adult School was founded in 1928 and has served Whittier, Santa Fe Springs and surrounding communities for over 75 years. The mission of Whittier Adult School is to "empower and enrich" our community. The adult school is a respected member of the community as a resource for educational advancement and vocational training, as well as family and personal growth and enrichment.

The adult school's academic program includes English as a Second Language, GED Preparation, Adult Basic Education, and high school diploma classes. The Business Department offers accounting, office skills, computer and software skills, and medical office careers training. In addition Parent Education and community education classes such as fitness, sewing, floral arranging, and cake decorating are available to the community. Classes are held at 18 sites throughout the Whittier Union High School District.

The Whittier Adult School program is designed around the needs and interests of students. Students play an active role through daytime and evening student body councils that advise the adult school staff regarding program and services for students and act as a means of communicating with the student body as a whole.

The Whittier Adult School staff and administration are committed to providing the best possible instructional program and support services for our students and our community.
