Pittsburg Adult Education Center

The Pittsburg Adult Education Center is committed to providing quality lifelong learning opportunities for both its business and residential adult community members. Our deep commitment to the lifelong learning process is expressed in both our Mission Statement and Expected Student Learning Results (ESLRs).

Mission Statement

The mission of the Pittsburg Adult Education Center is to provide programs that support the adults of our diverse community to reach their educational goals, including academic, vocational, and lifelong learning.

Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs)

  1. Students will be responsible individuals who set, pursue, and accomplish both personal and professional goals.
  2. Students will be critical thinkers who demonstrate useful problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  3. Students will be productive individuals who achieve a measurable increase in knowledge and skills in their subject areas.
  4. Students will be civic-minded participants who use community resources effectively to continue or extend learning.


In our fast-changing world, for all adults, there are always new skills to be acquired and new insights to be gained. That is why PAEC takes care to acquire the most up-to-date career-personal growth trends and community interest information. Our objective, first and foremost, is to assure that our programs and courses are relevant and reflect our community's interests, requests, and needs.

Injured Workers

We have a Comprehensive Vocational Rehabilitation Training Program for individuals who are referred to the Worker's Compensation System. We create training plans to meet your vocational goals.

Cal-Works Participants

Pittsburg Adult Education Center provides Cal-Works approved courses in Vocational Training Modalities, English as a Second Language, Adult Basic Education, GED, and High School Diploma.

You can take Vocational Education Programs alone or in combination with any of the above classes. Most of our classes are open-entry, open-exit. You may start at any time, providing there are openings in the class.

Workability II

Our school, in cooperation with the California State Department of Rehabilitation, offers a free comprehensive program of pre-employment skills training, vocational training, and job placement assistance in a supportive environment for individuals with physical, mental, or emotional disabilities.

Job Placement Assistance

Through our Workability Program and partnerships with the California Department of Rehabilitation, PAEC offers community members with physical, mental, or emotional disabilities Job Placement Assistance at our on-site Career Center. Assistance can include vocational training classes, job-seeking skills, and the assistance of a trained employment specialist.
