Oceanside READS

Oceanside READS Adult Literacy Services is a program of the Oceanside Public Library. It offers free, one-on-one tutoring to English speaking adults who are eighteen years of age or older and are not attending high school. Learners can be tutored in reading, writing, and spelling, as well as receive help in such areas as GED and citizenship studies, filling out job applications, and learning banking skills. We also offer computer-assisted programs so that a learner can work independently while waiting for a tutor.

Our tutors must be at least eighteen years old and have a high school diploma or GED. The program provides a seven-hour training prior to being matched with a learner, after which time the tutor instructs for ninety minutes twice a week, according to his or her availability.

Oceanside READS has been serving the community since 1997.
