San Mateo Adult School

Many have described the San Mateo Adult School as a big, loving family. Even last year's visiting WASC committee sensed the warmth between faculty, staff and students and remarked on it in their report. This atmosphere pervades each of our programs and is encouraged and supported by Director Lawrence Teshara. He regularly visits classrooms and is always available to students for chatting or counseling.

Tim Doyle, the ESL Coordinator, oversees a program that supports the well–being of the whole student, In addition to seven levels of English proficiency, the, program includes computer education and theme months which focus on information regarding health issues, preparing for the workplace, recycling and the environment, the American electoral process, and many more.
